About the artist and producer, Zach Balch

Zach Balch is an award-winning singer, songwriter, producer, engineer, multi-instrumentalist, and music industry professional. He has synthesized opportunities spanning from organizing South by Southwest (SXSW) membership events for The GRAMMYs and music licensing with Universal Music Group, all the way to design and consultation for multi-million dollar arts and media centers. Zach spent many years as a touring and full-time regional musician and sound engineer, during which time he also founded a record label, Flint Creek Records, for which he produced several artist records that gained regional and national accolades. Recently, Zach has turned his attention to understanding the songwriter psyche, putting his focus into community building and collaboration, which has led to exponential growth as an artist. His role now is as a facilitator of record making and live music events that encourage artful conversation.

What does Zach bring to The Soundpost Sessions?

Zach joins the Soundpost Session team as a talented and visionary producer, who played a significant role in the development of Jazz at The Times, and records and mixes each Soundpost Sessions show from the recording studio at Longmont Public Media. His most recent Soundpost contribution is the launch of our newest series, Stories & Songcraft, which features a performance by and crafted conversation with a professional singer-songwriter, during which guests will learn about the record making process, artistic philosophies, and how artists balance work, life and art as creative humans.

Stories & Songcraft, a new Soundpost Sessions series hosted by Zach Balch

“Longmont has a rich pool of musical talent that doesn’t often get a chance to gather and share ideas and industry knowledge with like-minded creatives in the local community,” Zach says. “I hope that Stories & Songcraft provides next-tier professional development and deep artistic insight for this close-knit and promising music scene.”

The first event in the series features the professional troubadour, Alexa Wildish, who describes herself as “geographically fluid,” but has strong ties with the Colorado music scene.

Stories & Songcraft launches Thursday, October 13 at The Times Collaborative. You can find more information about the event or purchase tickets below:

A part of Longmont Restaurant Week, Stories & Songcraft guests may also enjoy fine food and drink, featuring Chef Rising Tiger.
